Finding Presentation Ideas

Whether it’s for work or school or countless other things, finding good presentation ideas can be tough. Often time’s people will waste hours of precious productive work time trying to simply think of the presentation ideas they’d like to talk about. All these lost hours could be better applied to actually working on the presentation which not only results in a better end result but it also frees up a lot of personal time for those who write the presentation. There are a lot of different ways to select the perfect presentation ideas and just as many places to look for inspiration.

Most people start their long endeavors of writing a good presentation simply looking for a place to draw inspiration from for ideas. Hours on end sitting in a chair or in your office are not a good place to draw inspiration from and it certainly won’t help with thinking up any good ideas for presentation ideas. If you have the time taking a walk is a great place to think up presentation ideas. A couple minutes in a public park can be equivalent to a half an hour sitting your office. The trick is to get into the open and possibly get some fresh air. Not being cooped up in a space you spend hundreds of hours will help bring new and fresh ideas, if you’re in an area so mundane and regular, how are you supposed to get new and fresh ideas? If you don’t have the time to get away, a couple of other perfect times to think of presentation ideas are either in bed or in the shower. The reason these places are perfect is because you usually have little else on your mind. With a clear mind and little outer distractions you’re free to let your mind wander, which is where most of the greatest ideas come from.

Finding good presentation ideas isn’t only about having the right place to think, but it’s also about having the right inspiration and source material. The key is not to copy or imitate anyone else but observe the best presentations and reflect on why they were good. Did they have a lot of relevant information? Or did they have good pacing? These are the questions you should ask yourself when reviewing a great presentation to help get presentation ideas. Online video archives are home to a lot of the best debates and presentations ever given and looking up famous speakers is often times a great way to find good source material that exemplifies good tone, content and pacing. Finding these sources and asking the proper questions will ultimately yield the perfect presentation ideas.

Ditching the old office and the stale ideas that come with it is half the battle. Realizing who gives great presentations and why is the second half. The majority of the work in a presentation shouldn’t be finding good presentation ideas and if this happens to you it’s time to abandon your process of selection and try something new. Being more productive and having more time for you is only a couple of the great benefits to using effective means in deciding upon presentation ideas. In the end even if it takes you just as much time, you will most likely be giving higher quality presentations.
